Barbara Ruiken is a PhD candidate at the Centre for Research on Discretion and Paternalism and the Department of Administration and Organization Theory at the University of Bergen, Norway with the project “Understanding risk and protective factors in child’s best interest decision”. Ruikens has a political science background and her research interests include discretionary decision-making, child protection policy implementation and the role of risk and protective factors in care order proceedings concerning newborn children.
