PROJECT: Elaine Sutherland, Asgeir Falch-Eriksen and Mathea Loen are taking up positions at the Centre to work on the Legitimacy Challenges Project.
CHALLENGES is a groundbreaking study of legitimacy challenges for democratic governments and the welfare state, funded by the Research Council of Norway.
The project is led by professor Marit Skivenes, and will conduct an analysis of mistrust in core institutions and the normative foundation of the welfare state in several European countries.
Adjunct professors
Two adjunct professors will be connected to the project: Elaine Sutherland and Asgeir Falch-Eriksen.
Sutherland is an internationally renowned expert on Child and Family Law, and a professor at the University of Stirling (Scotland).
Falch-Eriksen is a political scientist with wide experience of child protection research, and a senior researcher at Oslo Metropolitan University (Norway).
PhD Candidate
Mathea Loen is recruited as a PhD Candidate. She has her Master’s degree in Comparative Politics from the University of Bergen, where she has also been a research assistant and a lecturer.
Loen will will write her thesis connected to the project, and study discourses on children’s rights, child protection and family values in Europe.
Research assistant
In addition to the three positions connected to the CHALLENGES-project, the Centre has a new research assistant.
Vanessa Seeligman has a Master’s degree in Psychological Science from the University of Bergen, and will support PI Skivenes and the other researchers at the Centre.
